The Mind of the Serial Killer – Independent Research
This essay explores the correlation between childhood trauma and serial killers, specifically the role of child abuse. My exploration includes secondary research along with primary evidence gathered through interviews with psychologists. Findings suggest that there is a definite correlation between child abuse and the development of a serial killer. However, the extent of its role is limited as there are other factors such as genetics, brain damage, mental illness, and changes to the brain’s structure that may impact the development of psychopathic behavior.
Role of Bollywood in Perpetuating Conceptions of Self and Society – Independent Research
This research paper analyzes the influence of Bollywood’s cinematic productions, on shaping the perceptions of self and society among the youth in non-metropolitan Indian cities. Based on the data I gathered from 185 participants aged 14-18 in Ludhiana, I looked at how films shaped the youth’s perception of physical appearance, success, love and relationships, and gender roles. My findings underscore the strong influence of Bollywood on the youth and reinforces the need for a critical analysis of media consumption, especially in relation to the reinforcement of gender stereotypes amongst the youth.
